COVID-19 positive undertrial escapes from hospital wearing PPE kit
Jind (TF Bureau): In a bizarre incident, a COVID-19 positive undertrial prisoner escaped from a hospital in Haryana’s Jind wearing a PPE kit.
The accused, who was out on bail, gave police a slip. However, he was nabbed hours later.
As per reports, the undertrial prisoner identified as Shiv Kumar was found COVID-19 positive on June 6 following which he was admitted to the hospital.
“He was released on bail two days ago after getting court orders. Since he was COVID-19 positive, he was admitted in the Jind Civil hospital. Last evening, he escaped through a window. However, he was rearrested late in the night,” the DSP Kaptan Singh said.
Interestingly, when CCTV footage was scanned it was found that Shiv Kumar escaped from the hospital wearing a PPE kit to hoodwink the authorities.
A case under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act and Section 188 IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) has been registered against Kumar, Singh informed.
