Bhubaneswar: The denizens in Odisha heaved a sigh of relief as the cyclonic storm brewing in Bay of Bengal is unlikely to hit Odisha coast.
The depression over Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea today intensified into a deep depression and is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The system is very likely to move towards West Bengal, adjoining north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts, a bulletin of the IMD said.
Under the impact of this, light to moderate rain will be experienced between November 9 and 10 in the north coastal districts.
Squally wind speed reaching 40–50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely to commence over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts from November 8 evening and gradually increase thereafter, the bulletin added.
