DAVP officials under CBI lens for advertisement fraud
Bhubaneswar (TF Bureau): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has tightened noose around two persons and unidentified officials of DAVP for allegedly manipulating circulation figures so as to give advertisement at inflated rates.
The fraud runs to the tune of Rs 65 lakh which were released to two newspapers over three years between 2016 and 2019.
The unidentified officials of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) tampered the circulation of the dailies that were printing less copies.
Worth mentioning, the central investigating agency had launched a joint surprise check on 150 government offices on August 30 last year. During raid at the printing units in question, the officials found that they were printing a meager 100-200 copies.
The raids were carried out at Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Guwahati, Shillong, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Chennai, Madurai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Raipur, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Patna, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Dehradun, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Vijaywada, Cochin, Kollam, Hanamakonda, Karimnagar, Chirmiri, Secunderabad, Katni – Bina, Vadodara, Himmat Nagar, Dhanbad, Kasauli, Samastipur, Danapur and Mokama.
