More areas declared containment zones as COVID19 cases rise in Odisha
Bhubaneswar (TF Bureau): Local cases of COVID19 positive persons continue to register an upward trend in Odisha forcing the district administration to declare several areas in the state as containment zones.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today declared a portion of Sector-9 as containment zone after a resident of the area tested positive for the deadly virus.
As many as 38 buildings in the area have been put under restriction. The main road in front of Plot No D-47 to D-49, road in front of D-1 to D-49, Ambatota road from D-1 to B-34 and back side of Plot No B-35 to A-16 has been declared as containment zone, a CMC notification read.
Similarly, Athagarh Sub Collector today declared the entire Badamba town in Cuttack district as a containment zone after two persons from the area tested positive for COVID-19 in last two days.
In an order, Badamba town was declared as a containment zone for 72 hours from 10 am on June 29 to 10 AM on July 2 after two persons tested positive for the virus.
On the other hand, restrictions were imposed in six areas in Berhampur town for screening after few symptomatic patients were found by Rapid Action Teams.
Sahu Colony-Ward No. 04, Bhaba Nagar 4th lane, Tulasi Nagar 6th lane, Bank Colony 1st lane near A.I.R Office, Gandhi Nagar 4th lane, and Burma Colony have been sealed by the civic authorities.
It may be recalled here that Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary yesterday declared Trinath Temple Chawk to Airport Boundary in the Capital city as containment zone to contain the spread of COVID-19.
A positive case was detected in Laxmi Bazar Basti, Siripur was detected on June 17 with travel history from a hotspot district.
After declaration of containment zones, the inhabitants within the containment zones will strictly remain in home. Shopping establishments will remain shut for stipulated period.
The supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the respective civic bodies.
