Safety issues worry people after OYO hotel case in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Arrest of two city-based hotel staff for allegedly filming obscene pictures of a young couple has raised safety concerns of people.

The hotel affiliated to affordable stay aggregator OYO under Nayapalli police limits has been under public scrutiny after the horrifying incident.

The commissionerate police arrested two hotel staff on Friday following complaint by the woman who had stayed in the hotel with her boyfriend.

The duo used to allegedly call her up demanding ransom of Rs 50,000 or else they would upload the intimate pictures and videos on internet.

Fearing ignominy, the girl succumbed to pressure. However, she decided to approach police rather than giving in to the demands of the hotel staff.

Prior to this, the girl called the blackmailer to come at a mutually agreed place and collect Rs 20000.

When one of them reached the spot, the girl along with her friends nabbed him. Then the blackmailer was handed over to the local police. Police are investigating into the case.
