Bhubaneswar (TF Bureau): Senior Congress leader and Jatani MLA Sura Routray has courted a controversy by mocking own party lawmakers Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Mohammed Moquim over the selection of new party chief in Odisha.
On the new OPCC chief, Routray said that AICC interim president Sonia Gandhi can also appoint a staff of the party office named Ashok as the PCC chief.
Though Routray seemed to be telling the same while venting out his anger on the media buzz around the new chief and the emergence of so many contenders for the top post, comparing Tara and Moquim with the office staff didn’t go well with many.
Moreover, Rourtray even didn’t hesitate in comparing the image of ‘Ashok’ with Gopabandhu Das, popularly known as Utkalamani was a social worker, reformer, political activist, journalist, poet and essayist.
On being asked that whether ‘Ashok’s’ contribution to the party is at par with Tara and Moquim, the Jatani MLA said that when people are murdering the Congress party in the name of Nuakhai celebrations, song programmes and others, why couldn’t a person with clear image like Ashok could be the PCC chief.
Sura trained his guns at Tara by raising the Nuakhai issue as ahead of the CWC meeting, several Congress leaders including Bapi Sarkhel, Sangram Jena, Satya Nayak and others assembled at the residence of the Congress Jeypore MLA.
